Holloway Notes, a local community choir in Egham is going online during the Covid-19 lockdown and welcoming new members.
Holloway Notes goes online
The choir, which is organised and led by Royal Holloway, University of London students and seed-funded by LinkAble, is a space where adults with autism, social anxiety or a learning disability can make music together while virtually meeting other members of the community.
Holloway Notes held its first virtual singing session on Wednesday 1 April, via Zoom. The sessions will continue to run every Wednesday at 2pm and new participants from the local community are welcome.
The students are also producing educational music resources which they share with Holloway Notes members to enable everyone to build on the skills they’ve practiced during the session.
Holloway Notes team leader and third year Royal Holloway undergraduate music student, Carrie Brown, said: “Holloway Notes had a fab time in our first virtual choir session. It was lovely to see all our members and volunteers, and have a sing-song to brighten everyone’s time in isolation!”
To celebrate Volunteers’ Week from 1 to 7 June 2020, Holloway Notes and Whole Notes, from Guildford and Camberley, are collaborating on a music video project to replace their cancelled concert which was due to take place in March. The choirs want to encourage people from the wider community to get involved.
