Following its previous successes, the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), Using Open Data for Digital Business, launched by Dr Tom Wainwright, from the School of Management at Royal Holloway, will be running for a third time from 7 January, 2019.

The free course is open to anyone and has, attracted a large number of learners from all over the globe on each of its previous two runs.  

The course will explore the power of Open Data and how it can be used to transform organisations. Open Data can be accessed, used or shared by anyone, for free. It enables businesses, citizens, developers and researchers to harness resources that can make crucial improvements to their communities and economy.

Taking two hours of study per week over a three week period to complete, the course will explore how Open Data can be useful to organisations, as well as how to effectively manage the risks associated with it, and uncover value.

The course also provides new insight into the history of Open Data, its pros and cons, and business cases and models related to publishing and using Open Data.

Speaking of the course, Dr Wainwright said: “We’re delighted with how many people enrolled on the previous two courses and the positive feedback we’ve received”.
