Welcome to the Department of Biological Sciences
We're internationally recognised for the quality of our teaching and research. In joining us, you’ll become part of a diverse and lively community of some 50 research students, working with internationally renowned academics who consistently publish research of an international standard and provide outstanding teaching and support.
Our MSc Biological Sciences by Research allows you to refine your research skills and develop your scientific and technical expertise. Students become more independent in their research, able to critically analyse novel datasets while gaining important experience in being part of a research team. Our state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment accommodate a range of specialisms within the department, helping to equip our students with the necessary skills in preparation for further PhD research, or graduate employment.
Our research is formed around three research centres:
- Biomedical Sciences (BMS)
- Plant Molecular Sciences (PMS)
- Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour (EEB)
Projects within any of our research centres are offered.
