Your new festival filled with new sounds
NEW SOUNDS is a four-day festival of contemporary music presented by the Department of Music, showcasing some of the best and most innovative modern music at Royal Holloway.
NEW SOUNDS 2025 invites you to explore music you may never have heard before. From transcendental sounds for massed voices to interactive, research-led sessions, cyborg explorations for piano and digital technologies to surround-sound installations, there are a host of opportunities for you to join us and immerse yourself in new sounds. Curated by Dr Nathan James Dearden, the festival will feature appearances from our internationally acclaimed Choir of Royal Holloway, our New Voices Consort and composer Kerry Andrew, our 2024-25 cohort of the Picture Gallery Composer-in-Residence scheme, the latest outing of our Royal Holloway Percussion Ensemble, the culmination of The Composer's Lab, plus many of our new music specialists and researchers.
This year's festival will take place between Wednesday, 12 March 2025 to Sunday, 16 March 2025, in venues across campus.
