The National Student Survey (NSS) 2020 results are testament to the very high level of satisfaction with teaching and overall experience among students in the Department of Biological Sciences at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Biological Sciences students in the laboratory
We are delighted to see our highest ever NSS scores from students across our degree portfolio, including scores of 100% overall satisfaction for our Biology and Zoology degrees, and 95% for our Biomedical and Biochemistry degrees.
We are also proud to record some outstanding scores in individual areas, including:
100% of students find their course intellectually stimulating
97% of students agree that staff are good at explaining things
97% say they have the right opportunities to work with other students
97% of students say their course provides opportunities to bring together information and ideas on different topics
We are thrilled to receive such positive feedback from our students about their experience of Biological Sciences at Royal Holloway. The department has long been recognised as providing a friendly yet challenging place to study this exciting and fast moving subject. Our students thrive because they are taught, and work with, internationally respected scientists who bring their cutting-edge research into their degree courses, and also because they are part of a strong culture of tutorial support.
The NSS is an annual, independent survey of final year students carried out by the Office for Students on behalf of the UK higher education funding and regulatory bodies. The results were published on 15 July 2020, and they reflect the responses to survey questions covering teaching on the course, learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources, learning community, student voice and students' union.
