  • Date09 March 2017

The formal launch of the new `Digital Organisation and Society’ theme group on 22nd February, brought together experts from across the School of Management who are investigating the implications of digital technologies for work and society.

There were three stimulating presentations from guest speakers: Dr Niran Subramaniam (School of Management, Royal Holloway; Professor Andrew Chadwick (Politics and International Relations, and Professor Robin Mansell (Media and Communication, London School of Economics). This was followed by the opportunity to network with colleagues over wine and canapés.

The event also provided an opportunity to get to know the varied and interdisciplinary work of the DOS group, as posters around the venue summarised some of the important research undertaken by group members.  Topics included: digital labour; leadership in virtual teams; business ecosystems; platform services; shared digital spaces; on-line activism; open data; and network nations.

The official launch forms the start of a programme of activities which will support and promote the work of the group.  The group is keen to make connections with other researchers both inside and outside the university; and with practitioners working in this area.

Anyone interested in the work of the group can contact the group convenors Dr Yingqin Zheng or Professor Gillian Symon.
