Year in Business Speed Recruitment Evening 2024

  • Date05 February 2024

Lightning fast connections were forged during the Year in Business Speed Recruitment Evening on 29 January. A whole range of companies were invited to attend the evening at our Royal Holloway Campus, with the aim of connecting with our second-year students seeking placement opportunities.

Last week saw the Business School’s foyer buzzing with activity at our ‘Year in Business Speed Recruitment’ evening. The event was organised to give our second-year students, who are currently seeking placement opportunities, a chance to meet and connect with a range of companies who offer such placements. Students were able to hear about a range of roles available  including in Accountancy/ Finance, Business support, Management trainee, Marketing, Recruitment, and Sales.

The evening started with a talk in the Moore Auditorium delivered by the Executive Dean of the School of Business and Management, Professor Christos Tsinopoulos, alongside Year In Business Programme Officer, Katherine Radford, before the students emerged to seek out the information they needed.

Each company was given a table to set up with their banners and information, with some bringing extra handouts and giveaways for the students. Alongside representatives from the various companies, the tables also included some of our students who are currently on placement within the companies, allowing our second-year students to get real insight into what a placement has to offer.

The evening was run in a ‘speed-dating’ style format, with groups of students chatting to companies for 6 minutes, before a bell was rung signaling it was time to move onto the next table. Before much time had passed, the air was filled with the buzz of conversations and valuable networking between companies and students. During the event, the second-year students were also able to speak to some of our final-year students who have returned to study at the university after completing their successful placement years. It was great to see so much enthusiasm from those seeking placements and hear the positive feedback from the companies, including about the professionalism displayed by our students, as well as the high quality of the questions asked.

The evening ended with a chance to mingle for some more informal conversations and networking, accompanied by a slice of pizza.
