Our research areas

The School of Business and Management is a medium-sized research-intensive School with an emphasis on social science based research.

Key areas of research conducted at the School include:

Complementing the School’s five discipline-based research departments, the School is home to three University-designated and ‘challenge’ oriented research centres and two research groups.

CHRONOS - Centre for Critical and Historical Research on Organisation and Society

CHRONOS challenges mainstream perspectives in management and organisational research and practice and posit alternatives, in addition to investigating historical modes of organisation and new ways of organising, to meet contemporary practical and policy challenges.

DOS - Digital Organisation and Society Research Centre

An interdisciplinary centre whose work focuses on developing a critical understanding of the implications of digital technologies for work, organisations and society. DOS seeks to generate responsible impact through influencing the development of organisational, governmental and global politics around the use of digital technologies.

CRIS - Centre for Research Into Sustainability

A centre actively engaging with understandings of social/ethical, economic and environmental sustainability in contemporary organisation, management, and society. CRIS’s purpose is to advance scholarship and contribute to positive social change in terms of contemporary sustainability related challenges.

Networks

Since 2004, the Technology and governance network or TGN has been a meeting place for academics and practitioners interested in contributing to study human emancipation through the use of information and communication technologies in societies around the world.
