Professor Angelos Chaniotis (Institute for Advanced Study) - New discussions of old problems: The Elgin Marbles, Stern’s Cycladic Collection, and cultural heritage

Elgin Marbles

The annual lecture of the Department of Classics, named after our first lecturer, Therese Dabis, will be given by Professor Angelos Chaniotis (Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton). The lecture will consider the question of cultural heritage and in particular the thorny issue of the Elgin Marbles, and possible ways forward in the negotiations between the Greek government and the British Museum. The lecture will be followed by a response and Q&A.

A reception in the South Quad of Royal Holloway's Founder's Building will follow the lecture.

Admission free but booking is essential.
