Anand joins the department as a Lecturer in Computer Science. Anand was previously a post-doc at the Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, co-leading a group on scalable and energy-efficient machine learning.
Dr. Anand Subramoney.
Anand did his PhD at Graz University of Technology, Austria with Professor Wolfgang Maass, working on biologically plausible learning and meta-learning. He did his Masters at the University of Texas at Austin and worked in the software industry for a couple of years at Amazon.com before starting his PhD. He received his undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
Anand is broadly interested in learning and intelligence, both algorithmic and biological. He is currently interested in scalable and energy-efficient machine learning, continual learning, and recurrent neural networks. Much of his work derives inspiration from neuroscience and biology in the quest to build a better and more general artificial intelligence. You can find out more about Anand on his website.
