Prof. Iddo Tzameret
Prof. Tzameret was awarded the grant for his project "Efficient proofs and computation: a unified algebraic approach". The central objective of the project is to develop a new set of tools to advance our understanding of which computational tasks can be computed efficiently and which cannot, as well as which problems possess solutions with short correctness proofs, and which do not. These questions are fundamental to contemporary science, and are motivated by technological challenges relevant to secure cryptography, derandomization of probabilistic algorithms, and improved constraint-solving heuristics.
Iddo is very excited about this opportunity: "I am very happy to be awarded an ERC consolidator grant, and that the ERC is providing such strong support to basic science. The project will enable me to lead a research team working on topics very close to my interests -- lower bounds on concrete computational models. ERC fellowships are very special as they provide a substantial amount of funding that enable scholars to focus on research with a large team for 5 years."
