Writer/performer Rob Drummond and director David Overend have worked together on numerous productions for over a decade. Recent projects include Eulogy (Òran Mór and the Traverse Theatre, 2018), The Majority (National Theatre, 2017), Wallace (National Theatre and The Arches, 2014) and Bullet Catch (The Arches, 2012). In this lively conversation, they discussed theatrical collaboration, audiences, magic, guns, funerals and democracy.

Rob Drummond is a playwright, performer and director. His wide-ranging work includes two CATS award-winning plays for young audiences: Mr Write (National Theatre of Scotland); and Uncanny Valley (Borderline Theatre and Edinburgh International Science Festival); Rob Drummond: Wrestling (The Arches), for which Rob trained as a professional wrestler, multi-award-winning Bullet Catch (The Arches), CATS award-winning Quiz Show (The Traverse) and critically-acclaimed thriller Grain In The Blood (The Traverse). Recent hits include the stage version of The Broons (Selladoor), dating show In Fidelity (HighTide), in which Rob helped audience members find love, and live voting show The Majority, for the National Theatre (Dorfman). 

David Overend trained at RADA. Previous work as director with Rob Drummond includes The Majority for the National Theatre; Wallace for the National Theatre and The Arches; Bullet Catch for The Arches, performed at the National Theatre in 2013 as part of an international tour; Postshow for The Arches; and Rolls in Their Pockets and Top Table for Òran Mór, Glasgow. Other work as a director includes Marco Pantani: The Pirate by Stuart Hepburn for Òran Mór, and CauseWay: The Story of the Alloway Suffragettes by Victoria Bianchi for the National Trust for Scotland. David is a Lecturer in Drama and Theatre at Royal Holloway, University of London. www.davidoverend.net
