BSRG Award

Harry Rennie (MSc Energy Geosciences) supervised by Domenico Chiarella and Candela Martinez (Clastic Sedimentology Investigation research group) has been awarded the
BSRG Award for Masters Sedimentology from the British Sedimentological Research Group.

The prize is awarded to the best sedimentological project completed by a student on a one-year taught Masters course and celebrates skills and achievement in sedimentology.

Harry won the award for his project titled Variability of fault-controlled syn-rift deposits, Exmouth Plateau, NW Shelf, offshore Australia.

The study analyses a multi-phase hangingwall fill composed of sediments derived from multiple source directions, displaying substantial along strike system variability. The project applies a quantitative volume balancing between erosion and footwall-derived sediments. The study helps to define the evolution of fault-controlled syn-rift models and further highlights the implications of these deposits for reservoir potential.

Congratulations Harry!
