Depositional Processes and reservoir characterisation

Domenico Chiarella

I am a sedimentologist with extensive experience in sedimentary geology, sequence stratigraphy and reservoir characterisation. Before moving to academia, I spent 5 years in Norwegian exploration and production companies working on Norwegian and international assets. My current research focus is in the understanding of depositional systems and processes controlling the sediments accumulation, and in applying this knowledge to reservoir characterization.

The typical dataset I use for my research and teaching includes seismic, wells and core data from the North Sea, Norwegian Continental Shelf, West Siberian Basin (Russia), Nam Con Son Basin (Vietnam), and Donets Basin (Ukraine). Field and virtual outcrop studies include areas of Italy, Morocco, Spain, Greece and Cyprus.
