Electronic Engineering achieved an impressive 90% overall satisfaction score in the NSS 2021, our second year of survey results from final year students. It places us among the top three highest scoring departments at Royal Holloway for overall satisfaction from our students.

Our high scores across the 27 questions* in the survey showed particular strengths in some key areas including 100% of students said they had the right opportunities to share feedback, 95% were able to contact staff when they needed to, 91% said their course ran smoothly and was well organised, 91% said staff are good at explaining things and 91% said they had the right opportunities to work with other students.

Head of Department, Professor David Howard commented,

“The NSS 2021 results are a testament to our supportive environment and dedicated team of staff, and we’re delighted to receive such positive feedback from our students about their learning  experiences. Our Personal Advisor system means that every student receives personalised advice and pastoral support throughout their degree to help them get the most out of their time here. Our students carry out four group projects in the first two years which provide valuable team working experience in preparation for the world of work.“

The NSS is an annual, independent survey of final year students carried out by the Office for Students on behalf of the UK higher education funding and regulatory bodies. The published results reflect the responses to survey questions covering teaching on the course, learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources, learning community, student voice and students' union.

* Electronic Engineering scored in the top 25% in 25 out of the 27 specific questions, with the other 2 questions scoring in the top half of Electronic Engineering departments in the UK.
