The partnership announcement on 20 November 2018 means that our students can now benefit from the UKESF scholarship scheme and internship programme, which connects the most capable Electronics undergraduates with leading companies in the sector.

As Royal Holloway’s youngest department, Electronic Engineering continues to develop an exciting range of new degrees combining innovation and market need across science, engineering and arts in the fast moving technological world.

Professor David Howard, Head of Electronic Engineering commented,

“It is a real pleasure for Royal Holloway’s Electronic Engineering department to become a partner with the UKESF, bringing fantastic career benefits and valuable networking opportunities for our students. This will help to expand our horizons as we prepare new generations of engineers steeped in the creative ingenious processes of designing and implementing new solutions to benefit the future of humankind.”

The UKESF’s mission is to encourage more young people to study Electronics and to pursue careers in the sector. UKESF offers opportunities for undergraduates to take advantage of an industry placement, develop their employability skills, generous financial support and the opportunity to network with professionals in the Electronics sector.

Stew Edmondson, CEO, UKESF said,

“It’s great to have Royal Holloway join the UKESF. Theirs is a new Electronic Engineering department focusing on creativity, and I look forward to working with them.”

The UK has the 6th largest Electronics industry in the world with an annual turnover of £98 billion, and as a sector it contributes 6% to the UK GDP.
