English and Creative Writing ranked 19th and 5th in the UK

  • Date14 June 2019

Released today, The Guardian university league table for 2020 sees ‘English and Creative Writing’ at Royal Holloway placed firmly in the top 20 in the UK again.

Department of English 2

Head of Department, Professor Juliet John enthuses: "It is brilliant news. A lot of hard work and thought has gone into this and, while we consider many success metrics alongside league tables, it is good to see validation of our commitment to excellence in teaching and care for students. I am particularly delighted with our notable 8/10 value-added score, which measures student improvement over the course of the degree."

"I would also like to recognise our student body for giving us constructive, timely and collaborative feedback, and for recognising our ongoing commitment to their experience," adds Professor John.

The Guardian league table is the first to be released for 2020. The department is currently 19th place for English in The Times Good University Guide 2019, and 5th for Creative Writing in both The Times Good University Guide 2019 and Complete University Guide 2019.
