Dr Bethan Davies is selected to serve as a member of the Antarctic Place-names Committee.
We are delighted to announce that Dr Bethan Davies has been appointed to the UK Antarctic Place-names Committee (APC).
The APC are responsible for considering proposals and making recommendations for place names within the British Antarctic Territory, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. It is composed of experts from the fields of Antarctic toponymy, science, geography, navigation, international relations and exploration.
Bethan was selected for her expertise in glaciology and will serve as an ad hoc member for the next four years. The appointment is a great honour and a reflection of Bethan’s continued excellence in the field.
