With 189 member countries, staff from more than 170 countries, and offices in over 130 locations, the World Bank Group is a unique global partnership: five institutions working for sustainable solutions that reduce poverty and build shared prosperity in developing countries.
Dr Eugenio Vaccari (Senior Lecturer in Law at Royal Holloway, University of London, UK) has been appointed as lead consultant by the World Bank on a project co-sponsored by INSOL International and the International Insolvency Institute.
Dr Eugenio Vaccari will co-ordinate the work of an inter-disciplinary team of experts and practitioners, with the goals of exploring the linkages between insolvency law and the climate agenda, as well as suggesting creative and innovative solutions for dealing with environmental claims in insolvency procedures.
Dr Eugenio Vaccari had written on these topics in the past. Recently, he presented some of his research in the area at the INSOL Europe conference in Amsterdam (October 2023). As a short-term lead consultant for the World Bank, Dr Vaccari will co-ordinate the work of a small group of experts, with the view of providing detailed guidelines by June 2024.
Dr Irene Antonopoulos (Senior Lecturer in Law at Royal Holloway, University of London, UK) will also join the team as an expert on human rights and environmental degradations. Both Dr Vaccari and Dr Antonopoulos will be involved in the delivery of a workshop, scheduled to take place at the World Bank in Washington D.C. in Spring 2024.
