Professor Robert Jago has been appointed as a Lead Assessor for the Office for Students.
Vice-Dean for Education and Student Experience of the School of Law and Social Sciences, Professor Robert Jago, who is Professor of Law in the Department of Law and Criminology, has been appointed as a Lead Assessor for the Office for Students.
The Office for Students (OfS) is the independent regulator of higher education in England, with responsibility for assessing the quality and standards of registered providers to ensure they continue to meet the minimum requirements set out in the OfS's ongoing conditions of registration for quality and standards.
As part of this, the OfS makes use of the advice of their independent academic assessors to inform their regulatory decisions about a provider’s compliance with quality and standards conditions and helping to determine what action, if any, should be taken as a result.
The OfS has a pool of academic assessors and continues to expand that pool as they take on additional assessment activities. These academic assessors are expert practitioners drawn from a broad range of providers with varied subject specialist expertise. Assessors work as part of a small team, led by a lead assessor.
Professor Jago has been appointed as a lead assessor for the Office for Students, and will play an integral role in driving up the quality of higher education across the sector and so in safeguarding the reputation of English higher education.
