The original research was conducted as a final year Undergraduate dissertation, and was subsequently adapted by Professor Rosie Meek and Shahara Bari for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Following the completion of the research, Shahara and Professor Meek worked collaboratively to navigate publication platforms for student research. The Journal of European Psychological Students (JEPS) is a peer reviewed journal which provides graduate students with the opportunity to disseminate research conducted during their studies. The article can be found in the JEPS online journal here.

Miss Bari, who is now seeking to undertake postgraduate training in Clinical Psychology, says:

“My BSc Criminology and Psychology course at Royal Holloway provided me with an amazing overview into Psychology which has inspired me to pursue a career in the clinical field. This experience has prepared me with invaluable skills to transfer across future work and training.”

Supervisor Professor Meek says:

“Working with students to support their research is one of the most rewarding parts of my role. Shahara was one of the most diligent students I have had the pleasure of supervising and I was delighted to see her graduate with a well-deserved first class degree. Shahara’s publication success is testimony to her aptitude for research and I have no doubt she has a successful career in Clinical Psychology ahead of her”.
