Arvind Kumar was invited to a panel discussion on ‘Why Do South Asian Media Industries Pander to Their Government’ at the Chevening South Asia Journalism Program Symposium on ‘Is Democracy Safe in the Smart Age - Lessons for the UK from South Asian Elections’ at the University of Westminster. Chaired by Sagar Chaudhary (The Caravan), co-panellists included Bulbul Hasan (E-South Asia, Bangladesh), Saqlain Imam (Former BBC), and Meghna Choukkar (KCL). Arvind Kumar shared his thoughts on the lack of social/caste diversity in Indian media and the reproduction of social inequality in digital media. He also argued that media/social media should be critically seen as institution which creates social problems.
