Percussion
Alonso teaches percussion, coached orchestras and Bands, and ran African and Percussion Ensembles. Successfully taking numerous students from beginners to Grade-8 level in both Drumkit and Orchestral Percussion with Trinity College London, ABRSM and Rock school, he currently teaches at the Royal Holloway University in London and at The University of Chichester West Sussex.
From 2001- 2011 Alonso, lectured in Percussion at the Birmingham Conservatoire where he was responsible for 20th-century music, the Percussion Ensemble, and the Latin music. He also gave seminars to the composer's class. He successfully created the Birmingham Percussion Days' Concerts and masterclasses by international artists with the support of the Percussion Industry in the UK. He regularly featured at the Frontiers series of concerts by the Conservatoire Teachers working closely with composers like Frederic Rweszki and Louis Andriessen among others.
He has performed with The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, including at the Proms at The Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican in London and Symphony Hall Birmingham.
