Elizabeth Drew studied the clarinet at the Guildhall School of Music with Antony Pay, Thea King and Andrew Marriner, and at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover with Hans Deinzer.

Following a period working in the Staatsphilharmonischesorchester in Mainz, Germany, Elizabeth was based in Spain performing throughout the country with the Emperor String Quartet, Moscow Virtuosi and with her duo partner John York before returning to the UK.
