Kyle Horch
Released this month, Inflorescence is a recital album performed by saxophonist Kyle Horch and pianist Anya Fadina, featuring premiere recordings of music composed for saxophone during the past thirty years. Much of the music is inspired by imagery of specific places and moments: the highlands of Tibet, the warmth of Latin America, a medieval church in Italy, a windswept island off the coast of Wales, and sudden snowfall in New England.

Kyle also features on another release - Hooray for Hollywood, this time with the Pinewood Saxophone Quartet, celebrating California and the golden age of Hollywood with an attractive programme of cinematic music by Burt Bacharach, Michel Legrand, Neal Hefti, Harold Arlen, Jack Marshall, Claude Debussy, and others.
Who is Kyle Horch?
Kyle Horch studied at Northwestern University in Chicago, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London; his teachers included Frederick Hemke and Stephen Trier. As a student and young professional musician, he won prizes in numerous competitions in Britain, Europe, and the USA. Since making his London debut in 1989 on the Park Lane Group series, he has performed as soloist at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, British and World Saxophone Congresses, and many other venues in Britain and abroad. He has made several critically acclaimed recordings: ChamberSax (Clarinet Classics, 1999: Five stars for performance and sound, BBC Music Magazine), AngloSax (Clarinet Classics, 2003; “This is a stunning album.” American Record Guide), Flotilla (Big Shed Music, 2009: “This CD sparkles with energy and the playing is terrific.” The Observer), two CDs of music by the composer Ian Stewart on the Music Chamber label - San Gejtanu (2008) and Islas (2010), John Carmichael’s Aria and Finale on ABC Classics (2004), and the 2006-7 Grade 8 Saxophone Syllabus for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (2006).
He has been Professor of Saxophone at the Royal College of Music since 1991, and has taught saxophone students at Royal Holloway, University of London since 2011. Read more.
