Lecturer Samantha Fernando receives London Sinfonietta 50th Birthday Premiere

  • Date23 January 2018

Lecturer in Music Composition, Dr Samantha Fernando, will have her new work Formations premiered on Wednesday 24 January at the Royal Festival Hall (London, UK) by the London Sinfonietta, commissioned as part of their 50th birthday celebrations.

50 years to the day since the London Sinfonietta played its first concert, they celebrate their birthday with the music that has shaped their identity – past, present and future. Co-founder David Atherton joins George Benjamin and Vladimir Jurowski in conducting a journey that begins with the music of Stravinsky, Ligeti and Birtwistle, courses through to the London premiere of Hans Abrahamsen’s piano concerto Left, alone and peers into the future with a new commission by RPS award-winning composer and our very own, Samantha Fernando.
