Music recognised in 2023 College Teaching Awards

As part of the College’s 2023 Teaching Awards at Royal Holloway University of London, Lecturer in Music Composition, Nathan James Dearden, has been awarded a Teaching Excellence Award for his work this academic year.

The awarded project - Learning through practice-led research: Multi-sensory learning practices in the lecture space - focuses on the development of various multi-sensory learning practices embedded into an undergraduate module which explores creative and practical methods of orchestration and music arrangement. Nathan will receive funding to support future teaching projects at the Department of Music.

Nathan received his award during the university’s Teaching & Learning Symposium on 3 July 2023, where he gave a presentation on his recent learning practices to the symposium delegates.

The aim of the College Teaching Awards is to raise the profile of teaching and to underline the College's commitment to it by recognising initiatives which have had a beneficial impact on student learning. The awards also aim to share good practice by publicising initiatives which have the scope to influence support for student learning more generally.
