Tina K. Ramnarine to chair 'Real Stories of the Windrush Children'

Tina K. Ramnarine to chair 'Real Stories of the Windrush Children'

  • Date15 November 2018

Professor Ramnarine will chair an event promoting a new book on the Windrush generation, Mother Country.

HMT Empire Windrush

For the pioneers of the Windrush generation, Britain was 'the Mother Country'. They made the long journey across the sea, expecting to find a place where they would be welcomed with open arms. Mother Country is a remarkable new book that explores the reality of their experiences, and those of their children and grandchildren, through 22 unique real-life stories spanning more than 70 years. The anthology includes contributions from David Lammy, Hannah Lowe, Maria del Pilar Kaladeen and Lenny Henry.

The event takes place on 23 November in London, as part of the Being Human festival. It will feature the book’s editor, Charlie Brinkhurst-Cuff, and two of the contributors, Maria del Pilar Kaladeen and Gail Lewis, reading from their work and taking questions from the audience. Professor Ramnarine's involvement follows her participation in a recent panel discussion on Calypso in Britain.

Full details of the event can be found here.
