Congratulations to York Instruments and former Royal Holloway student Dr Chris Checkley for their recent business start-up award from the IoP.

York Instruments has been awarded IoP Business Start Up award 2018. Receiving the award on behalf of York Instruments is  Dr Chris Checkley who was a PhD student and post-doctoral researcher with supervisor Professor Victor Petrashov in the Nanophysics and technology group at Royal Holloway. The award is for a new generation of brain scanners based on his research into Hybrid Quantum Interference Devices (HyQUIDs), quantum devices that can measure minute magnetic fields.
