Prof Gavin Hesketh (University College London)

The Fermilab Muon g-2 experiment will make the world's most precise measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment (a_mu=g-2) of the muon, as well as the strictest limits on the electric dipole moment. Analysis of the first data taking run has just been published, and the measurement of a_mu is now 4.2 standard deviations away from the Standard Model prediction - possibly indicating new physics contributions.
This talk will review the background to the measurement, discuss the details of the new analysis, and highlight the future prospects.
