ATLAS Heavy Resonance Combination

ATLAS Heavy Resonance Combination

  • Date19 May 2021
  • Time 15.30 - 16.30
  • Category Seminar

Assistant Prof Daniel Hayden (Michigan State University)

The ATLAS collaboration at the LHC performs many independent searches for new heavy resonances beyond the Standard Model. The plethora of new physics theory models for most of these searches generally fit into categories of searches for Spin-0, Spin-1, or Spin-2 new heavy bosons, and their subsequent decay into various final state signatures. The ATLAS heavy resonance combination (HRC) effort, aims to statistically combine as many of these searches as possible, to maximise the sensitivity to new physics given the current dataset, and in the event of a discovery, help to characterise the nature of the new physics phenomena. This talk will walk through the preparation and tasks involved in performing a heavy resonance combination, present some interesting results, and talk about the future of such efforts in ATLAS.
