The Human Brain Project (HBP) aims to build a collaborative research infrastructure to facilitate the advancement of neuroscience, medicine and related fields. It is one of the three largest scientific projects ever funded by the European Union to result in “game changing impacts”.

As part of the HBP initiatives, HBP CodeJam workshops aims to develop open-source, collaborative platforms for neuroscientific research based on the latest advancements of informatics. To achieve this, it brings together researchers and students from various fields ranging from neuroscience to engineering, and the activities involve presentation and discussions, as well as actual implementation of the ideas.

Tibor will present and demonstrate automatic analysis (aa) he is developing together with other scientists from countries including UK, Ireland and the USA. aa is a comprehensive pipeline system for neuroimaging processing and analysis, and it facilitates efficient, flexible, transparent and replicable execution of even very complex workflows.

aa is also implemented on the scientific computing infrastructure of the Psychology department and used for most of our (functional) MRI PhD projects. Tibor has been developing aa since 2012, when he joined the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in Cambridge and he has already presented its features recently on NeuroInformatics 2016 in Reading.
