Impact

The Department of Psychology has a long-standing tradition of generating real-world impact in the areas of health and quality of life, the justice system, human factors and literacy. We aim to create an environment that fosters impact and engagement with non-academic partners across all researchers and research projects, as well as providing targeted support for our most impactful research. This is achieved through: (i) strategic impact leadership; (ii) providing training and targeted support; (iii) creating capacity through workload allocation; and (iv) supporting the acquisition of funding.

The department received a top score in REF2021 for its research impact, with 100% judged to be 4* – the highest standard of excellence. This outstanding result for research impact reinforces the importance and value of the department’s research to society and the economy.
