Research Culture shapes the ecosystem in which we operate, it influences who is doing research, what research is done, and how that research is communicated. Research culture impacts on a whole range of areas in the research system including the integrity of research, the equality, diversity and inclusion, the career path that researchers follow, the reward and recognition, open science, the fundamental character of collaboration, and the well-being of the researchers.
On the other hand, the study of stellar populations in galaxies is the ecology of stars, connecting the behaviours, the nature, the variety, and number of stars with the environment in which they inhabit.
But… What does research culture and stellar populations in galaxies have in common? Why do we care about stellar populations, galaxies, or research culture? In this talk I will connect these seemingly completely different subjects showing that, in fact, they are more closely related than we originally thought.
