Equality, Diversity & Inclusion learning and development
Our mandatory Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training helps colleagues develop an inclusive mindset and contribute towards establishing a supportive and inclusive culture. Training focuses on allyship, and bullying and harassment amongst others. We ensure targeted and contextualised unconscious bias training is completed by colleagues on promotion and recruitment panels, and offer Race Equity awareness training, LGBT+ Allyship training. We support our managers through a range of courses including Inclusive Leadership and Mental Health Awareness training.
Alongside formal training, we offer micro-learning (bitesize) training for colleagues to use within team meetings, as part of awaydays etc. These include on antiracism, writing accessible documents, microaggressions and microaffirmations, accessible meetings, gender identity, pronoun use, age awareness amongst others.
Conversations About Race (CAR)
Royal Holloway is working with Citizens UK on a project to train facilitators to carry out local race-based conversations where colleagues and students from all backgrounds can share their experiences. Sessions are intended to support attendees embed anti-racism practices in their daily lives and support learning on issues related to race and race equality, as well as offer opportunities for participants to share experiences. Conversations will lead to action planning around race equality as we continue to build community, enhance learning and understanding that will lead to genuine and sustained positive change based on listening, inclusion, empathy and respect.
