Provost and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global)
Tracy Bhamra is the Provost and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global) at Royal Holloway, University of London and responsible for leading the academic schools, global partnerships and civic engagement agenda. She joined in May 2021 as Senior Vice-Principal for Student and Staff Experience and Professor of Design for Sustainability from Loughborough University where she held the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and was also Professor of Sustainable Design.
At Loughborough, Tracy was responsible for the university’s academic knowledge exchange and impact, student and graduate enterprise activity, and the science park along with engagement with external organisations and regional collaboration, winning the accolade of Outstanding Entrepreneurial University at the Times Higher Education Awards in 2019. Tracy was previously the Dean of the Design School at Loughborough University and has held posts at Cranfield University and the University of Manchester.
Tracy has supervised over 25 PhDs and has acted as an external examiner for MSc, MPhil, PhD and EngD theses in the UK and internationally. In recognition of her experience and expertise in the field of sustainable design she has been invited to speak at various events and conferences including the British Standards Institute, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Japanese Society of Ergonomics; Cape Peninsula University of Technology, South Africa; University of Malaysia, Sarawak; International Hellenic University, Greece; and Royal College of Art, UK.
Tracy is a member of Council for the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) and was a member of the Research Excellence Framework 2021 Sub-Panel 32 (Art & Design: History, Practice & Theory). She is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET), the Royal Society of Art (RSA) and the Design Research Society (DRS).
