We live in a period of rapid change in all spheres of life - political, cultural, economic and social.

The study of politics and international relations is concerned with understanding these changes and the fundamental challenges linked to them.

Our degree programmes are designed to provide you with the means of making sense of issues of contemporary significance, as well as giving you the skills for a variety of work settings.

In the final year, students have the opportunity take our Politics in Action module, where they can gain the opportunity to work with an MP, a government body, a non-governmental organisation or a charity for one day a week, and produce a policy report as one of their final years options. Please click here to read about some of the wonderful work and policy analysis of our Politics in Action Students.

Our staff are engaged in research on a wide range of subjects. Our teaching is informed by the very latest information and research findings. The department focuses on political life at the global, the national and the local levels. The different approaches we take in our research and teaching complement and enrich one other, and this is reflected in the way in which our degree programmes are designed and taught.

Our researchers have built a curriculum in politics and international relations that is truly up-to-date and reflects the most recent innovations in the discipline. We strive to ensure the research and teaching we offer at Royal Holloway is of the highest quality.
