Food and drink
Reid is catered, pay-as-you-go. This means that you won’t have access to a kitchen to cook your own meals but you’ll be able to buy all your meals from Founder’s dining hall at a discounted rate of approximately 50%. The 50% discount only applies to Founder’s dining hall, but you’ll also have the choice of eating in a range of other cafés and dining halls on campus and if you pay using your Student ID Card you’ll receive a 20% discount off your food.
Find out more about the discount and paying with your Student ID Card.
Our dining halls cater for all dietary requirements (e.g. vegan and halal). If there isn't an option to suit you on the menu, you just speak to a member of staff at the food counter and the cooks will make you something fresh.
Pantries
Even though this Hall is catered pay-as-you-go, you’ll have access to pantry. Pantries are a kitchen type area designed for you to make drinks and light snacks and are shared by the students in your house.
We provide:
- small work surface and sink
- microwave
- kettle and toaster
- larder refrigerator
You need to bring:
- cups
- plates and bowls

- washing-up materials and tea towels
The pantries are cleaned weekly, but it’s also your responsibility to keep the shared areas clean and tidy.
Can I bring my car?
No, you can’t bring your car with you to your Halls of Residence. You can bring your car to campus for up to one hour, but if you stay any longer you’ll get a parking fine.
All mail arrives at the Main College Post Room and is distributed to the appropriate Halls of Residence within 24 hours. In Reid, letters you receive will be placed in the pigeon holes in the Hub main foyer for collection. If you receive a parcel or item needing a signature, we’ll email you to let you know that it’s arrived and is ready for collection from the reception desk. Remember to bring valid ID when you come to collect your mail.
Please make sure your post is addressed using your full name, (as it appears on your Student ID Card, rather than any nicknames or abbreviated names), hall address and room number. Otherwise we may not be able to get your mail to you.
