Planning a career in journalism? Or just want to get involved in student media for fun? Whatever your motive, our student media offers lots of opportunities to get involved.
We have three main media outlets, all operating from a Media Suite in the Students’ Union:
- Insanity Radio – our student radio station
- The Orbital – our monthly Students’ Union magazine
- rhubarbTV – our student TV station
Insanity Radio
Insanity broadcasts chart and chat, news and specialist music on AM and FM as well as online 24 hours a day. Over the years, it’s picked up lots of Student Radio awards from best student radio station to best marketing and productions.
Fancy having a go as a presenter? Or maybe you’re more interested in broadcast engineering or web development? There are lots of different ways to help run the station.
The Orbital
The Orbital is our monthly Students’ Union magazine and runs regular training events to help you learn more about journalism and improve your writing technique. You can get involved as either a writer or photographer.
rhubarbTV
rhubarbTV is our student television station, broadcasting programmes on everything from current affairs to cookery. It also livestreams events both on and off campus. Anyone can get involved, whether you have lots of experience in TV production or have never picked up a camera before.
Laura says
"Getting involved in student journalism has not only introduced me to a new group of friends and a different social scene, but helped me to develop skills which employers really value."
