The Gent-Rust Scholarship 2025

Degree Type Postgraduate Award Type Scholarship Fee Status Type UK
Cash award of £8,000 for new postgraduates studying selected degree courses.

Two scholarships are available to full or part-time students from the UK applying for an MSc degree.

The scholarships are funded by Mr and Mrs Gent, to recognise and promote academic achievement, alleviate need and promote activity of benefit to society as a whole. These objectives will be taken into account when your scholarship application is considered.

Your previous academic background will also be considered, and will be assessed from your degree application. Considerable importance is also attached to what you've done in and what you hope to do in areas outside your field of study, so you're advised to include this in your scholarship application.

  How do I apply?

  • academic achievements and other activities you are particularly proud of and why these really matter to you
  • why have you chosen to do the degree you have applied for
  • your future aspirations and how the scholarship will help you achieve these and contribute to society
  • from a financial standpoint, what impact this scholarship would have on your education
  • any special personal or family circumstances affecting your need for financial assistance.

It is expected that you would not have the means to undertake the proposed course of study without this scholarship. You will need to demonstrate this in your application.

The strength of your previous academic background will also be considered. This will be assessed via the documents submitted as part of your degree application.

Considerable importance will be attached to what you have done and hope to do in areas outside the field of your studies so we encourage you to fully explain this in your statement.

Your statement will be judged on how effectively and convincingly you respond to the above.

Applications which exceed the word count will automatically be rejected.
