Applicants to Royal Holloway come from a diverse range of backgrounds and we accept a broad range of qualifications to our courses. Each applicant is considered carefully on their individual merits, but please see below for the standard minimum entry requirements for students from the Philippines.
A successfully completed first year of a bachelor’s degree
A-Levels or International Baccalaureate
Foundation Course - either the International Foundation Year or International Year One, or equivalent from another institution

The Royal Holloway International Study Centre
The Royal Holloway International Study Centre provides an International Foundation Year and International Year One programme, which are designed for international students who do not quite meet the requirements for an undergraduate course. These programmes will help to develop your academic and English language skills in preparation for university. Upon successful completion, you can progress to degree level study at Royal Holloway, University of London.
How to apply
Undergraduate applications are made online via UCAS. However, if you are applying to a University preparation course, then you will apply to Royal Holloway directly. There is more application information in the Studying Here section of our website.
Students who have successfully completed a degree in an appropriate subject with good grades/GPA and at a reputable university will be considered for entry to a Royal Holloway Master's degree programme.
We require either:
A master’s degree
OR
If awarded from 2022:
A bachelor’s degree
If awarded prior to 2022:
A bachelor’s degree awarded from a prestigious university
Doctor of Dentisty/Optometry/Veterinary Medicine (Equivalent to UK Ordinary degree)
Doctor of Medicine/Juris Doctor/Bachelor of Laws (Equivalent to UK Ordinary degree)
The exact requirements will depend upon the programmes. A Lower Division (2:2) is generally equivalent to: CGPA 2.5/4, or CGPA 2.5/5, or 80%, and an Upper Division (2:1) is generally equivalent to: CGPA 3.0/4, or CGPA 1.75/5 or 86%.
Research Degree (MPhil/PhD)
Students who have successfully completed a Master's degree in an appropriate subject with good grades/GPA and at a reputable university will be considered for entry to a Royal Holloway MPhil/PhD programme. The grades from your bachelor’s degree, as well as work experience, your research proposal, personal statement and interview performance will also factor into the final decision.
